ABC7: As New Yorkers Pack City Parks, Trash Piles Up

In the face of $84M of budget cuts from the NYC Parks Department this year, decreased staff capacity, and record-high usage of parks across the City, trash has been piling up.

That’s why Riverside Park Conservancy stepped up and retained Goddard Riverside’s GreenKeepers to address the growing trash problem and keep the Park clean. While we all understand that our tax dollars should be taking care of this, the Parks Department simply doesn’t have the budget to keep up.

The program costs $240 a day, and the Conservancy asks neighbors to pitch in if possible to help keep it going for as long as possible.
