Memorial Day Commemoration

This annual event, sponsored by the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial Association, in affiliation with the Riverside Park Conservancy and in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, commemorates the recognition of honoring those men and women that have made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting our freedom.
The Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial Association event recognizes many related organizations that will place flowered wreaths at the monument. This placement of flowers on monuments and gravestones is a Memorial Day tradition and is done across the US at many military cemeteries.
There will be speakers from the US Marines, Medal of Honor Museum, local politicians, and veterans and civilians from all walks of life. A US Navy Band will be in attendance.
The Soldiers’ and Sailors’ monument is dedicated to the recognition of the men and women of the armed services and who are veterans or are active military.
Ample seating is provided. This event will be held, rain or shine.
