CANCELED – SandSational!
COVID-19 UPDATE: In Riverside Park Conservancy’s commitment to our staff, volunteer, and community’s well-being, all volunteer group activities have been canceled through June 30, 2020, and potentially beyond.
Riverside Park will remain open to the public, and we encourage you to enjoy fresh air in the park if you are able to get there safely. Please remember to practice social distancing ― leave at least 6 feet between you and others, don’t gather in large crowds and avoid all nonessential social interactions. Healthy or sick, all New Yorkers need to stay home as much as possible.
The health of our community is our top priority. We encourage you to follow the City of New York’s recommendations for keeping yourself and others healthy.
Fresh sand means one thing in Riverside Park: Spring! Help start the season off right by volunteering to help move new sand into your playground’s sandbox. SandSational begins with a family bucket brigade, followed by parents and adults completing the job. Pails and shovels for kids will be provided by Riverside Park Conservancy.
We need volunteers at the following locations:
Neufeld ‘Elephant’ Playground (76th Street)
River Run Playground (83rd Street)
Hippo Playground (91st Street)
Dinosaur Playground (97th Street)
105th Street Tot Lot
110th Street Tot Lot
117th St Tot Lot
Sakura Playground (122nd Street)
Claremont ‘Dolphin’ Playground (124th St behind Grant’s Tomb)
Riverbank ‘Camel’ Playground (143rd Street)
This community volunteer event will not take place in the event of rain. Project details and meeting sites are determined two weeks before the project based on the weather and the needs of the park.
