SUMMARY:River: A Hudson Memoir
DESCRIPTION:Join New York City naturalist and author Leslie Day as she disc
usses her book River: A Hudson Memoir. Learn about her almost 40 years of
living in a houseboat on the Hudson River at the 79th Street Boat Basin an
d the natural history of the river itself'from its geological birth as an
estuary with thriving wildlife to polluted years and subsequent clean-up.
Leslie highlights the resilience of the houseboat community\, who survived
  hurricanes\, Noreasters\, giant icefields\, fires\, and sinkings. Despite
it all\, the community thrived together through uplifting celebrations an
d a shared joy of living on the river. \nThis event takes place in the new
ly-renovated 102nd Street Field House. Enter the Park at 102nd Street and
Riverside Drive\, then descend to the promenade level. The stairs to the F
ield House are across the promenade at 102nd Street.
