 ress\, and educator originally from Peru. Known for her vibrant performanc
 es and global sound\, Flor blends music\, storytelling\, and culture to cr
 eate meaningful experiences for young audiences. Her latest album\, Hersto
 ry\, celebrates the lives of trailblazing women from around the world and 
 continues her mission to educate and empower through music. \nSummer on th
 e Hudson events are free and open to the public. Seating is limited\, unre
 served\, and available on a first-come\, first-served basis. If there is h
 eavy rain at the time of the event\, the event will be canceled. For weath

DESCRIPTION:Join Summer on the Hudson and Ballroom Basix USA  for fitness\,
  fun\, and fancy footwork! Ballroom Basix provides physical\, social\, emo
 tional and multicultural engagement through the etiquette and education of
  non-competitive Ballroom & Latin partner dancing. This class energizes\, 
 entertains and educates teachers\, students\, their families & communities
  while emphasizing the poise & politeness our program promotes\, true to o
 ur meaningful motto: Making manners matterevery move we make! \nAbout Ball
 room Basix: The BBX syllabus and methodology creatively contribute to the 
 health and wellness of the diverse schoolchildren whom we serve by getting
  classmates hand-in-hand\, arm-in-arm and eye-to-eye. The partner dancing 
 experience is enhanced by the verbal & physical courtesy and consent inher
 ent to partner dancing as students dance ' rotationally & respectfully ' w
 ith one another. \nAbout the teaching artist: Marisa Caputo is a recent gr
 aduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts where \, in addition to her bachelo
 rs degree studies\, she was active in NYUs Latin & Ballroom Dance Team. Sh
 e trained in partner dancing for multiple years of through the Fred Astair
 e Dance Studios\, where she has also taught part time. She has been a valu
 ed Teaching Artist with BALLROOM BASIX for almost 4 years ' and is thrille
 d to share her love of Ballroom & Latin dance with children\, young adults
 \, and seniors throughout New York City. \nMarisa continues to train and c
 ompete in all four ballroom styles'Latin\, Rhythm\, Standard\, and Smooth'
 and is passionate about creating a fun\, welcoming environment for dancers
  of all ages and experience levels. She is very excited to be teaching thi
 s summer at Riverside Park!
