SUMMARY:RTA Summer Sunset Concert Series featuring Durieux
DESCRIPTION:Waterfront sunset concerts sponsored by the Riverside Tennis As
sociation. No performance on July 4th. \n\nJune 20 ' Ron McClure & Friend
 s \nJune 27 ' Morrisania Band Project \nJuly 11 ' The Afro-Latineers\nJuly
  18 ' The Slim Kings \nJuly 25 ' Richard Baratta \nAugust 1 ' The Brooklyn
 ers\nAugust 8 ' Durieux\n\nDurieux is a Bronx-based band known for an idio
syncratic\, yet moving\, take on Alternative R&B/Soul. Led by singer and r
hythm guitarist Bryan Durieux\, the band originally begun as a solo act. O
ver time\, the music evolved to a point where Bryan began to perform on st
age with a full band behind him. The blend of Bryans talent melded with so
ulful bass (Seth Happy Nicholson)\, groove centric drums (Danny Castro)\,
and intricate guitar (Gannon Ferrell) is a sight to see. Bryan is a story
teller and a performer that writes his lyrics\, from the heart\, based on
experiences in life that anyone can find relatable. Blend that with sound
of his band and it becomes an experience that will have you in your feelin
gs\, but also make you want to groove and be on stage with them singing yo
ur heart out. Durieux has performed on stages all over NYC and beyond. Dur
ieuxs goal is to bring the euphoric experience of community through music.
Create a space where we all relate on an emotional level and collectively
find solace within ourselves at the end of every performance. \nSummer on
the Hudson events are free and open to the public. Seating is limited\, u
 nreserved\, and available on a first-come\, first-served basis. If there i
s heavy rain at the time of the event\, the event will be canceled. For we

SUMMARY:Riverside Park Conservancy x Climate Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:Join Riverside Park Conservancy and the Climate Film Festival f
or a special preview screening of five short films exploring our local env
ironment and the people working to help cities and wildlife adapt to a cha
nging climate. A conversation with filmmakers will follow\, including: \nE
 mily Driscoll\, director\, Snow Bears\nEmily Fano\, RiSC\, producer\, Wher
 e It Floods\nEliza Mitnick\, director\, A Fragile Paradise\nJason Jaacks\,
  director\, Between Moon Tides\nMaggie Burnette Stogner\, director\, Refug
e Keepers\n \nMore to be announced! RSVP Required on Eventbrite here. \nSn
ow Bears (2026)\nArtist Heide Hatry\, known as Snow Banksy\, crafts polar
bears out of snow to draw attention to a warming world. What begins as a s
olitary pandemic project grows into community climate action\, as she insp
ires more than 100 New Yorkers to build snow bears alongside her in Centra
l Park. She dreams of seeing snow bears spread around the globe. \nWhere I
t Floods: Planting Hope in Coney Island (2023)\nWhere it Floods follows Ne
w York City students on the frontline of climate activism in Coney Island
as they participate in RiSC\, the National Wildlife Federations award-winn
ing climate education program that connects schools with local residents a
nd partner organizations to help build community resilience. \nA Fragile P
aradise (2026)\nBeyond its summer crowds and postcard-perfect beaches\, Fi
re Island is sustained by the people who quietly care for it year-round. A
Fragile Paradise follows landscaper Dylan Wallace\, who helps preserve th
e islands fragile dunes; Margaret Hofbeck\, whose monarch butterfly garden
has become a sanctuary for endangered butterflies; and longtime shopkeepe
rs Lynn and Wes Little\, whose dockside market has served as the heart of
Seaview for generations. Together\, their stories reveal the many ways peo
ple care for a place\, from protecting delicate ecosystems to preserving t
he traditions and relationships that define a place. Through intimate obse
rvational moments and sweeping coastal imagery\, A Fragile Paradise is a p
ortrait of Fire Island through the people who sustain it'a reflection on s
tewardship\, resilience\, and our relationship to the places we call home.
\nBetween Moon Tides (2025)\nBetween Moon Tides follows an intergeneratio
nal group of citizen scientists in coastal New England as they attempt to
save the Saltmarsh Sparrow from extinction ' one nest at a time. Against t
he backdrop of rising sea levels\, three retirees and a young intern forge
deep bonds while scouring the saltmarsh\, banding birds\, and witnessing
firsthand the devastating effects of climate change. Through stunning visu
als and intimate storytelling\, the film reveals how a disappearing bird s
erves as both a warning and a call to action. Yet\, at its heart\, Between
Moon Tides is a love story'about nature\, mentorship\, and the hope that
comes from refusing to give up\, even in the face of impossible odds. \nRe
fuge Keepers (2026)\nWhere the sea is both livelihood and legacy\, veteran
fishermen\, women community leaders\, and young conservationists unite in
Celestn\, Mexico to create a pioneering marine refuge\, hoping to save th
e waters that sustain their community and way of life. \nThis event takes
place in the newly-renovated 102nd Street Field House. Enter the Park at 1
02nd Street and Riverside Drive\, then descend to the promenade level. The
stairs to the Field House are across the promenade at 102nd Street. \n

SUMMARY:Works in Public 2026 Unveiling
DESCRIPTION:The Art Students League of New York and the New York City Depar
tment of Parks & Recreation are proud to present Works in Public 2026\, a
year-long outdoor public art exhibition in Riverside Park. The exhibition
features four new site-specific sculptures by League artists: Alicia Ehni
and Robert Franca in Riverside Park South at 61st Street\, and Lindsey Fra
ncis Jones and Clare Burson in Riverside Park North at 145th Street. \nSc
hedule: \n1:45pm ' Meet in Riverside Park North\, 145th St. to unveil the
new rosk by Lindsey Francis Jones and Clare Burson.\n3:00pm ' Board our fr
ee shuttle to Riverside Park South\n3:45pm ' Arrive at Riverside Park Sout
h\, 61st St to unveil the new works by Alicia Ehni and Robert Franca. \nAb
out the Art and Artists: \nLindsey Francis Jones\, City in Shapes\, City
in Fish\nCity in Shapes\, City in Fish invites viewers into the artists vi
sual language through a cityscape of abstract shapes and color. Inspired b
y the craft and community of printmaking\, the work incorporates images of
six fish etched onto selected plexiglass\, contributed by fellow printmak
ers and artists: Laurissa Widrick\, Felix Bladbjerg\, Kait Waldman\, Stan
 Overstreet\, Barbara Ganmen\, and Scarlett Patino. \nClare Burson\, Uneart
hed.\nUNEARTHED is an installation of three steel forms inspired by the an
cient Plain of Jars in Laos. It asks us to consider the inevitable and une
xpected ways that history imposes itself on the present. When experienced
with its accompanying soundscape\, UNEARTHED also reminds us that our shar
ed public spaces are nexus points for an infinite number of narratives tha
t connect individuals and communities across time\, those who lived here b
efore us and those who will come after us. \nAlicia Ehni\, Balancing \nA P
eruvian shaman once told Ehni to carry a lemon in her purse\, that it brin
gs great harmony in life and in interactions with others. Two fractured pr
e-Columbian ceramics carry ancient coastal knowledge\, opening possibiliti
es to imagine a different future. Balancing reflects on the fragile relati
onships between people\, nature\, and the built environment. \nRobert Fran
ca\, The Chairs\nThe Chairs explores family as the foundation through whic
h we understand ourselves and the world. Seen through a childs perspective
\, the chairs embody imagination\, openness\, and freedom from conventiona
l rules. Their human-like forms suggest movement and the ability to change
. Ultimately\, the chairs speak to the importance of finding balance ' wit
hin ourselves\, within families\, and in navigating the challenges and unc
ertainties of an ever-changing world. \n
