DESCRIPTION:Forest Therapy or Forest Bathing comes from the traditions of S
 hinrin Yoku and other European and indigenous cultures. We invite you to j
 oin us in reconnecting with nature by participating in a guided Forest Bat
 hing experience. Allow yourself to connect with the park in a way you neve
 r have before. The program includes a short\, no more than a half-mile wal
 k at a slow pace. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing
  and bring water\, snacks\, and a towel or cushion for sitting on the grou
 nd. Participants will meet in front of River Run Playground at 83rd St. at
  3:20 PM. The guide will be wearing a purple and white backpack and will b
 e stationed outside the River Run Playground. The walk will begin promptly
  at 3:30pm. Know Before You Go For everyones safety\, we are asking all pa
 rticipants to observe the following guidelines: \n\nAll individuals should
  maintain social distancing of six feet during programming\, regardless of
  vaccination status\nWash your hands before attending a program\nStay home
  if you are sick\n\nAdditionally\, we encourage participants to bring thei
 r own hand sanitizer and water bottles to our programs.

DESCRIPTION:With Spring just around the corner ' we need your help to clean
  up the park and get it ready for the upcoming season! We will be meeting 
 near the base of the stairs at the entrance to Riverside Park at 151st Str
 eet ' keep an eye out for our large yellow RPC tent! \nSIGN UP HERE \nJoin
  Riverside Park Conservancy in kicking off the season by cleaning up our g
 arden beds\, weeding out invasive species and\, leaf removal from high-tra
 ffic areas. \nAll organic matter will be added to our compost pile and tur
 ned into valuable mulch for use throughout the park. \n  \nWhat to wear/br
 ing: \n Your own (filled!) water bottle \n Sturdy\, closed-toe shoes \n Lo
 ng pants \n Comfortable clothing that can get dirty \nKeep all personal it
 ems with you at all times\, as we will not have a secure area for bags. \n
   \nFor the safety of our staff and volunteers\, if on the day of the proj
 ect you are sick or not feeling well\, STAY HOME! It is not worth the risk

  Ph.D. is a Professor of Geography in the Sociology Department at Manhatta
 n College. His US-based research explores sustainable agriculture in the H
 udson River Valley of New York. His research outside the US examines gende
 r in agroecosystems of the Vietnamese Mekong River Delta. Dr. Lovell also 
 has remote sensing and geography projects in the US and abroad\, and a new
  project exploring how gender\, climate change\, and armed conflict intera
 ct. He is a dedicated teacher and researcher in the  food system and looks
  forward to sharing how we can all get involved in making NYC a more susta

 hanie Azzarone\, author of the new book Heaven on the Hudson: Mansions\, M
 onuments\, and Marvels of Riverside Park. The event will also include a re
 ading from the book\, author Q&A\, and book signing (books will not be sol
 d at the event\, however\, we welcome those of you with your own copies to
  bring them for signing). \nHeaven on the Hudson: Mansions\, Monuments\, a
 nd Marvels of Riverside Park\, is a colorful tale of a singular New York C
 ity neighborhood and the people who make it special. Told in the personal 
 voice of a long-time resident\, the book features the history\, architectu
 re\, and personalities of this often overlooked neighborhood\, from early 
 days through the present. A native New Yorker who has lived across from Ri
 verside Park most of her life\, author Stephanie Azzarone has spent many j
 oyous hours learning about the citys history and architecture\, and even m
 ore wandering up and down Riverside Park and Riverside Drive. A former jou
 rnalist (freelancer for The New York Times and New York magazine\, among o
 thers)\, she also ran an award-winning Manhattan public relations agency.
