SUMMARY:Bridge Matter/The Reach (Fort Washington Park)
DESCRIPTION:Summer on the Hudson and Kinesis Project dance theatre offer a
stunning evening experience of dance\, music and dramatic colors along the
river with the iconic view of the George Washington Bridge. \nBridge Matt
er/The Reach is a dance of care\, echoes and how our very human ways of br
idging our cracks parallel the Earths processes. This colorful work is the
second collaboration with geologist Dr. Missy Eppes and her colleagues\,
specifically Dr. Stephen Laubach\, both award winning and internationally
respected scientists. \nKinesis Project is a dance organization that creat
es dance as public art\, facilitates educational programs and produces sit
e-specific performances with diverse communities. A company at the forefro
nt of the discussion of placemaking\, art engagement and the cultural impe
rative of art in public space\, Kinesis Project dance theatre invents larg
 e scale\, space-changing\, breath-taking experiences. \nA MAP Fund grantee
\, Kinesis Project has been developing and creating Bridge Matter/The Reac
h since 2024 in NYC and Seattle\, in partnership with Summer on The Hudson
. Costumes are created by Rebecca Kanach with visual art design by Celeste
Cooning. Music by Johnny Butler + Musicians

SUMMARY:Volunteer at the Compost Compound!
DESCRIPTION:Join us in supporting our Sustainability Team with compost proc
essing and gardening work at the 95th Street Compost Compound! \nThe compo
st that is currently in progress at our site is created right here in Rive
rside Park. We utilize machinery for the composting work\, and when the co
mpost is ready it will be applied to soil in the Park\, thus retaining nut
rients from the debris that enters the site and closing the loop. \nFor ex
isting volunteers: Please sign up through the Grassroots Volunteer Portal.
\nFor new volunteers: Please email grassroots@riversideparknyc.org for inf
ormation about how to get involved. \n\n\n\nThis event is not suitable for
corporate groups! If you are a corporate group\, please email caroline@ri
versideparknyc.org to set up a project. \n\n\n\nAbout the 95th Street Comp
ost Compound\nOur state-of-the-art Compost Compound is the processing cent
er for debris and materials produced in the process of maintaining Riversi
de Parks landscape. Conservancy staff use the Compost Compound to drop off
woody debris\, leaves\, weeds\, and invasive plants that they have remove
d from other areas of the Park. We then process these materials on-site by
composting. The compost is then incorporated back into the Parks soil. By
retaining all of the weeds\, twigs\, and branches and composting them\, w
e are closing the loop. The Compost Compound successfully diverts hundred
s of cubic yards of plant material from ending up in a landfill and reduce
s the need for carting ' thereby reducing emissions involved in transporti
 ng the material off site.

SUMMARY:The Little Red Lighthouse Festival

the eponymous childrens book\, live music\, and activities for all ages!
\nAs the Little Red Lighthouse is more than 140 years old and in need of c

n for a limited number of tours during this years Festival\, led by the NY
C Park Rangers! As in years past\, tours will be first come\, first served
. To safely and comfortably accommodate visitors\, we have reduced the tot
al number of visitors we can accommodate. \nTo accomplish this years Littl
e Red Lighthouse touring in a fair and efficient manner\, timed tickets wi
ll be distributed beginning at noon on Saturday\, October 4. \n\nWe highly
recommend that visitors looking to tour the lighthouse earlier in the day
arrive before noon.\nTickets will be timed for a 40-minute window.\nTicke
tholders are asked to arrive on time for their scheduled tour.\n\nThis yea
r\, we will be offering additional tours of the Little Red Lighthouse outs

e during the Festival will have additional opportunities once the Festival
has concluded. \nThe Little Red Lighthouse is beloved by New Yorkers and
visitors alike. Join us in our quest to ensure that the Little Red Lightho
use can safely receive visitors for years to come. Together we can keep th
 e light shining!
