The Ralph Ellison Memorial Committee commemorates Elizabeth Catlett’s sculpture and the life of Ralph Ellison with a curated line-up of local jazz musicians and poetry, presented in partnership with the Maysles Documentary Center and the National Jazz Museum in Harlem.
Featured artists and speakers include poets Mahagony Browne and Lacresha Berry, curator and art historian Monique Long, historian and Memorial Committee member John T. Reddick, and editor John F. Callahan, representing the literary estate of Ralph Ellison. The program will include a musical performance by Michael Young’s “Soul Guard” Jazz band.
