Riverside Park in January

Share

Happy New Year! From all of us here at the Conservancy, we wish you a fantastic 2025. We’re looking forward to each season in the Park — from crisp winter walks that lead to spring blossoms, from long summer days out by the water that turn into warm autumn hues. May your year be filled with joy, color, and time spent in nature!

Read on to learn about the latest happenings in the Park:

Mulchfest: It’s ‘Tree-Cycle’ Time!

We’re looking for volunteers to assist with our tree-cycling process! Join us for Mulchfest on Saturday, January 11 from 10am to 2pm at River Run Playground (West 83rd Street). You can even take a bag of mulch home with you! Limited spots are available for this annual, fan favorite volunteer day — register here.

You can also discard your tree at any Riverside Park entrance up until January 31. Collected trees will be transformed into fragrant pine mulch that helps nourish the Park’s soil. It’s a win-win for you and the many plants of Riverside!

Register Now: 2025 Sports Camp

Get a start on your 2025 summer plans by registering your camper for Sports Camp in Riverside Park! At camp, young athletes work with coaching professionals to build their skills alongside teammates in a picturesque park setting. Registration is open now for our Riverside Park location, and will open soon for our Fort Washington Park location — stay tuned!

As always, we’re excited to offer a variety of options for campers to explore multiple sports in one day, including baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. New offerings for 2025 include Soccer/Flag Football for ages 8+ and Rookie/Tennis for ages 4-6.

Our scholarship program ensures that every camper, regardless of their family’s financial situation, can attend. Please contact [email protected] with any questions about programs, pricing, or need-based scholarship opportunities.

Shovel Riverside Park’s Snow with Us

We’re looking for volunteers to join our Snow Corps crew! Riverside Park has over 60 entrances and staircases that need clearing after snow falls. This important community response team helps ensure the Park is accessible all winter long.

If you’re interested in Snow Corps, please fill out this form and we will match you with the entrance or staircase closest to you. When a storm is coming, we’ll notify you by email and leave everything you need at a designated drop site.

Reflections on a Vibrant Year

Did you get a chance to hear from our team? Our fantastic professional staff, whose talent and dedication keep Riverside Park thriving, reflected on their favorite 2024 moments and shared hopes for 2025 in a recent post on our website.

From caring for beautiful vistas to connecting with volunteers to creating dynamic programming for all ages, we can’t wait to see what this team of 60+ staff accomplishes this year!
