Breakdown of Baseball Trainings Each Week
Monday – Evaluations
Campers go through a series of baseball drills so coaches can get a sense of skill and experience level. These include infield/outfield work, batting practice, base running and pitching and catching. Based on these evaluations, campers are placed in the correct division for their skill and age at lunchtime Monday.
Tuesday – Station Drills
Campers are broken up into small groups by skill and age and go through a rotation of different stations such as batting practice, infield, outfield, base running, bullpen work and conditioning. Each camper participates in each station with personal coach attention
Wednesday – Team Practices
Campers go with their teammates and coaches from that week and the coach designs a team practice to address any weaknesses seen in the team that week. This is designed not only to help the team in the afternoon games, but also gives campers a chance to further bond with their assigned teammates and coaches.
Thursday – Camp Wide Color War
The camp is divided into two halves, a blue and white team, with one team from each division on each half. The teams then compete in baseball events such as home run derby, outfield accuracy throw, speed base running and infield defense. Points are calculated for each team during the morning with the final Color War winner being announced at the end of the day.
Friday – World Series Doubleheader
Games in the morning and afternoon on Friday offer a fun, competitive conclusion to the camp week. Many times the weeklong series comes down to the games Friday. Parents are welcome to observe the afternoon games Friday which are then followed at the end of the day by a weekly camp wide awards ceremony recognizing campers who excelled in the program that week.
