July 11: Hopalong Andrew / high-spirited urban cowboy tunes

Hopalong Andrew is NYC-based singer-songwriter, Andrew Vladeck, a folk and western music artist who performs original and traditional cowboy-themed music. He’s collaborated with many renowned musicians and won various songwriting awards, including 1st Place in International Songwriting Competition, and nods from Billboard, IMAs, GASC, UKSC. He’s shared bills with The National, Andrew Bird, Norah Jones, Soulive, Beth Orton, Moe, Jeff Buckley, Ani DiFranco and many more.

His award-winning debut album “Howdy Do!” (2018) celebrates city life and the “can do spirit.” His upcoming release (2024) honors the incredible-but-true diverse and multicultural heritage of the American West.

July 25: Miss Tutti & the Fruity Band / celebrating confidence and inclusivity

Miss Tutti And The Fruity Band is a musical children’s project celebrating themes of body confidence, inclusivity, and LGBTQ+ representation! They are creating a musical safe space for all kids and families.

Their debut album “Confidence Juice” is composed of 8 upbeat retro-pop tunes co-produced by music educator Gracie Nash and 2-time Grammy/Tony award winner Charlie Rosen. Every song celebrates the things that make them unique.

August 1: Elena Moon Park & Friends / children’s folk music from around the globe

Elena Moon Park and Friends performs music for all-ages audiences across NYC and beyond. The band plays folk and children’s music from around the globe, with an emphasis on East Asia, and original songs.

Their album, Rabbit Days and Dumplings, features reimagined folk and children’s songs from East Asia, including Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan and Tibet. Released in fall 2012 by Festival Five Records, the album has received lovely feedback, including a Parent’s Choice Award and a feature on NPR’s All Things Considered.

July 7:  La Banda Chuska / the sounds of vintage Peruvian cumbia and 1960s surf rock

La Banda Chuska merges the sounds of vintage Peruvian cumbia and psychedelic chicha with 1960s Latin American and Middle Eastern surf rock. Their post-punk energy has also drawn comparisons to a tropical version of the B-52s. With Felipe Wurst and Sam Day Harmet on guitars, Adele Fournet on organ, Erica Mancini on accordion, Abe Pollack on bass, and Joel Mateo on drums.

July 14th:  Falsa / contemporary Sufi music and Raga jazz

Based in New York City and under the “Falsa” banner, a diverse array of improvisational World musicians rooted in 14th century Sufi music (Indian/Persian classical mysticism similar to Rumi’s elevating poetry) offer experiences that range from Minimalist Meditative to Raga Jazz Fusion to high energy World Improvisation that gets you moving. Through music, Falsa communicates reverence for the most magical aspects of experience that are gifts and not acquisitions, as Sufi music is not about means to ends, but about meaning and transcendence.

July 21th:  Hot Toddies Jazz Band featuring Queen Esther / fun-loving hot jazz and swing

Hot Toddies Jazz Band feat. Queen Esther are a fun-loving hot jazz & swing band from NYC. They have an eclectic mix of styles perfect for dancing, lindy hop, and good times! With the release of The Hot Toddies’ 2021 debut EP, their wacky music videos for “Dunkin Bagel” and “Five O’clock Coffee” both hit over 100k views on Facebook, while the band also has several videos with over 10k views on YouTube. The group often plays as a sextet or septet, often with one or two singers, and can comfortably become a larger or smaller size ensemble as needed.

July 28th:  Baklava Express / Middle Eastern fusion influenced by the traditions of the Arab world

Baklava Express is a NYC based Middle Eastern fusion project, led by Oud player and composer Josh Kaye. The band performs original music, influenced by the traditions of the Arab world, Turkey, and Greece, as well as Jazz, Flamenco, Rock, and Eastern European Folk music. The eclectic influences and vast differences in the musical backgrounds of its members have created a group whose style is distinct, yet genre defiant.
